Giornata dei Legumi 2025

Legumes Day 2025

Our story and how we started growing legumes.

Since the 1950s, our family has been cultivating the land in southern Italy. After years dedicated mainly to wheat and cereals, in 2020 we 4 sisters decided to renew the family business with a clear goal: to improve the fertility of the soil and the quality of our products. That's why we started growing legumes.

Crop Rotations: The Secret to Soil Fertility and Nutrient-Rich Crops

Our agricultural philosophy is based on a fundamental principle: to preserve and improve soil fertility. But how? A good example is production through a crop rotation system: a plot of land dedicated to the production of chickpeas will be dedicated the following year to the production of wheat, then to fodder, etc.

  • By alternating crops, problems related to the onset of fungal infections, or the invasion of parasites 🦗 or weeds 🐉 are reduced.
  • soil fatigue is avoided
  • the nutritional needs of the subsequent crop are met by the residues of the previous crop 🍅🍀🫛🌾 thus reducing the need to resort to synthetic fertilizers.

Here you can see a post on our Instagram page from the distant 2021 :) when we had just started our adventure. February 10th is World Pulses Day : for us, this celebration lasts all year round, because producing quality pulses requires time, care and passion.

"Yes, but cooking chickpeas takes time, you have to soak them"

Here is our Francesca's suggestion to a customer who was worried about the time needed to prepare the chickpeas: "Madam, don't worry, you soak the chickpeas in the evening and then go to sleep, they do the bath themselves and in the morning you are ready to cook them" 😂.
